This is not far from Vikedal, mentioned above.

http://bit.ly/nRiZH4

Back then, people often took their surname from the farm/place they lived.

The emigration records states that Olaus lived at Sjernarøy at the time of departure. Aubø is part of the Sjernarøy islands (archipelago).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-39138992497949818052011-09-23T07:09:06.385-05:002011-09-23T07:09:06.385-05:00No, not me ;)No, not me ;)crexnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-33403475501951357502011-09-23T06:57:20.928-05:002011-09-23T06:57:20.928-05:00Looks like Crex(?) has a good lead on Olaus.

I suspect the name is badly mispelled/mangled in their records.Intense Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08441598926026727682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-82298987964056646802011-09-23T05:54:10.549-05:002011-09-23T05:54:10.549-05:00One more addition.
