It is November and for the next couple of weeks we will honor Soldiers of the Armed Forces. Most are unknowns, but all are thanked for their service to our country.
This is a photo from the antique shop in Crookston Minnesota.
This WWI soldier remains unknown. He had his photo taken by R.W. Steel in St James Minnesota.
Thanks for stopping by.
Update from Iggy:
The 3 castle button at his neck means he was an enlisted Engineer.
Update from Molly M:
The arrow on his shoulder looks like the arrow of the 32nd Red Arrow division of the U.S. Army. His rank looks to be that of a private first class.
Interesting. The photographer worked in 1922 (according to MNHS) and the buttons on the uniform appear to date after the war (I think WWI buttons were blackened so that they wouldn't shine). The 3 castle button at his neck means he was an enlisted Engineer.

ReplyDeleteI agree - and the Red Arrow guys were mostly from Wisconsin and Michigan.
DeleteSad to think so many of those military photographs are left unidentified.
