Photo Number 2090

This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Pequot Lakes Minnesota. Butchering Pequot Lakes ant

Three men with knives butchering.  The carcass has been hung to cool, it has been gutted and skinned. It is ready to quarter up.

I grew up on a farm, in the fall a butchering would take place so you had meat for the winter.  I remember the day I came home from school and saw two favorite black angus steers hanging…Billie and Willie…a person should never name food.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. That sounds like good advise, unless you name them Hamburger and Strip Steak.

It must have been a rude shock to you that day.

  2. My thoughts precisely. We used to get our organic beef from some friends nearby, who grazed the animals on their property toward the end of the season. They used to invite us over to "meet our dinner." And name them. Ew. Enough to make a vegetarian out of a person.
