Photo Number 1927

This is a photo from the antique shop in Duluth Minnesota.

Unknown Couple Andrew Forsander Neganee mich Duluth Antiques

I wonder if they stood close to each other when they got married?

The groom wears a light colored three piece suit, spectacles and a flower.  The bride wears a dark gown with beautiful stitching on the skirt, a really tall white collar,  a tie at her neck, a bow at her waist. fairly large sleeves and she carries a bouquet in her hand.

On the back of this photo there is a stamp.

From Andrew Forsander  Negaunee Mich  Perhaps he is the photographer.  This photo is not your typical Cabinet Card but it measures just like one.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Andrew Forsander was the photographer. He was born in Finland c. 1861 and immigrated to the US in 1880. He is listed in the 1900 and 1910 US Censuses working as a photographer in Negaunee, Marquette, Michigan.

    1. Hi, I know that this comment is years old, but I just recently got three photos that are marked as A. Forsander, from Negaunee, Michigan (I bought 15 photos all of similar age). Where would I be able to learn more about Forsander and his work, and do you know if he specialized in any particular photos? Thank you!!

  2. Two independent souls reflected by their body language: I hope they had a happy marriage.

  3. They do seem rather detached. Wonder how much of these ambivalent poses are the "artistic" interpretation of the photographer?
