Anton Kleiner was the photographer in Hamburg Germany.
Capt ? Oltedahl?? (edited to Oftedahl) Bar N (edited to Bark) Mercator??
The photographer’s awards came from 1881, 1884 and 1876, so this CdV was taken sometime after 1884.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
From Iggy:
A bark is a sailing ship, sort of like a schooner.
I think the second part is the name of his ship, the Bark Mercator. A bark is a sailing ship, sort of like a schooner. Oltedahl would seem Norwegian.

ReplyDeleteI recon his name is Oftedahl, as it is a valley in Norway with that name (Old Norse: Oltirdal which means Swan Valley).
ReplyDeleteIf he wasn't an opera star he should have been. He looks like he could have really belted out a tune.
