Photo Number 856

This is a Real Photo Postcard from the Antique Shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
Postcard Ethyl Holm DL Antiques
Such a huge bow for a little girl.  She is wearing a locket around her neck and she has a bracelet around her right wrist. Her hair is done in ringlets. Her dress is knee length.  She wears those heavy black stockings with shoes that lace up.
Postcard Ethyl Holm DL Antiques back
Ethel Holm  Clitherall Minnesota.

Clitherall is in Otter Tail County.  We can tell this photo was taken sometime between 1904 and 1920 from the type of postcard used.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)

Per the US census of 1910, Ethel H. Holm was born in 1905 and lived in Leaf Mountain, Otter Tail, Minnesota with her parents Ole P Holm (b. 1874 in Sewden) and Anna Mathilde (b. 1876 in Minnesota).

  2. I love how the photographer set up this photo: Ethel looks almost relaxed and natural. I hope this photo finds its way back to the family because it is a real treasure.

  4. The lack of smiles on all the old photos will never cease to amaze me; not that this kid needs one - she's a natural beauty. When did people begin to smile on professional photos?

    1. Hi Anita, In the 1920's you begin to see some smiles:)

    2. Thanks. I'll be watching and noticing.

  5. Unfortunately, I can find no further trace of Ethel, who appears to have been an only child, after 1920. Her parents were alone in 1930. I suspect she got married and moved away (or died which would be really sad) between 1920 and 1930.

Abra magic might help with this one!
