To read "mother's cousins" for Jim and Delia Hays makes me think they are siblings, but they look older than the customary time for sibling photos. I'm thinking husband and wife.

I did find a James J. Hays living in Kankakee, Illinois--living in the town of Bourbonnais. He was married to Adelia D. Hays. At the point of the 1900 census, they were in their mid forties, which would make them about five years younger if your guess is right about when the photo was taken (1895?).

However--although you know me and my eyes--their faces in the photo look to be younger than the forty two and thirty nine that the census couple would have been in 1895.

I tried looking for a Kate Simpson in Kankakee County, too, but no luck. Again, that could be a married name, versus maiden name. Or the whole bunch of them could have decided to move somewhere else.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-73362524603075798852014-02-18T17:33:12.500-06:002014-02-18T17:33:12.500-06:00You're right! The couple in the story are named Jim and Della.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-68804935531364578812014-02-18T05:50:32.813-06:002014-02-18T05:50:32.813-06:00Oh I love the hair comb!Oh I love the hair comb!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
