Update from MJM:
This is a long shot, but the only name I could find that was close. There is a woman named Edith L Blackmer (1880-1910) whose mother was named Vesta. Vesta Graves (1840-1921) married George Washington Blackmer (1833-1907). The couple had 10 children, including Edith, all born in Illinois. The only connection I've found to MN was one son lived in Pequot Lakes, MN in 1930.
