Photo Number 2030

This is a Real Photo Postcard from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
Sweet Baby and eggs DL ant
I am going to get eggs to set over here.  Bring 6 hens
Sweet Baby and eggs DL ant back
This is a picture of the sweet baby where I room.  If you get this postal before Papa comes to meet me. Tell him to bring six chickens in a box.  I have sold them  R.B.E
It was sent to Miss Inez Edwards Swanville Minn.
The postcard is from 1904 to 1918.
I bet Inez and R.B. were sisters!
Thanks for stopping by.

Update from Iggy:
Rose Barningham Edwards was Inez's mother.

Rose was a widow in 1930 and a boarder in Swanville, Morrison, Minnesota. I think the postcard was sent sometime before father, James Andrew Edwards died in 1920.. Inez was a teacher in a public school and never married. Her sister had a big family. Just who this baby is a bug question mark. The 1920 US census doesn't show Rose "rooming" anywhere.

  3. Well, isn't that a puzzler! It would make no sense for the wording to refer to "papa" if he was no longer living! So it had to be 1920 or before, but in both the 1920 and 1910 census, James Edwards' farm (just outside Swanville) was owned free and clear. In the 1900 census, Inez herself was just a baby. Too bad there's no way to figure out who the baby in the buggy is!

Incidentally, Inez' older sister Lucille was also a public school teacher, in her time.
