  1. Reading a book? Different way to pose for a picture (photo).

  2. Possibly Amelia A Becker (Nov. 9, 1840 - Sep. 18, 1917) buried in Hillside Cemetery, Valley City, Barnes County, North Dakota. She immigrated to the USA in 1873. The 1900 US census says she could read and write, but was not naturalized.

    1. I was looking for someone born about 1860 to 1880...found one possibility. Too many Mrs. Beckers out there:(

    2. I think Find A Grave Memorial# 120278073 might work - there is a photo of her on the memorial - you think?

    3. Yes I looked at her photo also. Perhaps some day a family member will come by! :)

  3. At first, I wondered if she were a teacher, with that book in the pose. Perhaps the book just has some significance for her. It does seem to be an unusual choice of prop for that time period.

    1. By the way, can you tell what is written on the pages? It doesn't appear to be from a typical book. Or maybe that's just my eyes :(

    2. It is hard to see. I think it might be a music book.
