Mr + Mrs Torgrain? Klepp
The woman wears a lovely unique trim on her dress it looks to be some kind of lace. I have not seen anything quite like it before. I will guess this photo was taken about 1910…give or take a few years.
Thanks for stopping by.
From MJM:
There is a Find A Grave memorial #53259094 for Torgrem Klep who is buried in Polk Co, MN. That memorial is attached to a tree on Ancestry for a Torgrim Halvorsen Klep (1876-1935). That tree shows that Torgrim married Ingeborg Grundesdatter and one child is listed, Halvor Thorgrimson Klep (1838-?). Halvor married Anne Thomasdatter, and there are two children listed; Tone Tilda Halvorsdatter Klep and Ingeborg Halvorsdatter Klep. Tone Tilda married Ellen Ellenson, and no children are listed. Ingeborg married Thor Vetren and there are seven children listed. Their home in 1910 was in Hay, Cavalier, North Dakota.
From Berit:
A couple Thorgrim and Thorbjor Klep bapt a child Thore in Grand Forks in 1891. Other names on that page sounds Telemark.
And a daughter Birgit in 1886.
And a son Nils in 1888 that died an a new son Nils in 1890, Kora in 1897, Helen in 1901 and Harvey in 1902
There is a municipality named Klepp in Norway, about 15 miles south of Stavanger where these people very likely came from.
ReplyDeleteThe only like match I can find is Thor Nelson Klepp, Find A Grave Memorial# 24968738. Maybe one of your Norse readers can make out the name "Torgrain" - and perhaps its variations?

ReplyDeleteTorgrem seems sensible. :) I've seen Klep, Klepp, and Kleppe variations - so Klep would seem sensible too.
