Every year about this time I present old photos of Veterans. The photos are getting harder and harder to find. I look for them year round to get enough for a few days in November.
“Without the brave efforts of all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines and their families, this Nation, along with our allies around the world, would not stand so boldly, shine so brightly and live so freely.” Lane Evans
This is a photo from the antique shop in Crosby Minnesota
A WWII Army Soldier and his gal. The Art Deco Folder dates this to sometime in the 1940’s.
Canniff was the photographer in Brainerd Minnesota. I did find a studio there that was operated by Jessie D. Canniff from 1918 to 1925. Perhaps they reused folders or someone else took over for her using her name.
Thanks for stopping by.
Handsome dude and lovely women -
ReplyDeleteThere were two Jessie Canniff's living in Brainerd.

I suspect mother and daughter-in-law. Either could have taken this photo.
According to the 1940 US Census, the younger Jessie (b. Nov. 1, 1889 d. Mar. 5, 1974) was working as a photographer - she never married. The older Jessie was her mother, the wife of William T. (also in Find a Grave)
