Photo Number 1650

This is a Real Photo Postcard from the antique shop in Solway Minnesota.  The last few times we have been by there the old shop has been closed.  There used to be an elderly gentleman there always smoking a cigarette ready to dicker about prices.

  2. I remember those columns as they were on our old house in southern Iowa. I always thought when young that they were unusual to have been used on a plain white house. The columns were made exactly the same way that makes me believe one could buy them out of a catalog. When we tore down that house, as a kid, I could see the woods that had been glued together and then the piece was placed on a lathe to carve it into a cylinder. I don't remember if the cylinder went ftom thin to thicker as you got to the bottom. I have one stray photo somewhere of a cat sitting on the porch with that column showing.
