Tabor was the photographer located at Elevator, S Montgomery Street, Opposite the Palace and Grand Hotels San Francisco
I find the elevator part curious.
Mrs. A. M. Hagarty from Mrs. Deane
Way at the bottom right is a date April 11 1884
What do you think. Did Mrs Deane pay for the photograph of her friend Mrs. A. M. Hagarty or is this a photo of Mrs. Deane that was supposed to go to Mrs. A.M. Hagarty?
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again.
I love the wavy hair...in young photos of my dad, his hair did this naturally!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that would mean Mrs. Deane. And the elevator sign the photographer's way of directing customers to what possibly was a hard-to-find studio. Nice to have a date on that photograph! Wish there were more than initials, though.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the elevator was a newfangled novelty -
ReplyDelete"The hotel featured large redwood paneled hydraulic elevators which were known as "rising rooms"
