Goodness. So many names. These photos are treasures! Perhaps they should be in the town's historical society?

yes Betty..my mistake I corrected her name. Yes if no one shows up for these photos I will contact the LaMoure County Historical Society.
DeleteHaving spent some time looking at these "children" I want to say one thing - I am astonished and amazed by how many of them are veterans. A large number of them served in the Air Force or Army and several are buried in Veterans Cemeteries. This town should rightly be proud of its citizens.
ReplyDeleteIs there a special database available for veterans?

Precious fotos! Also like the kid's handwriting. I think it's a great idea with the Historical Society. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteFor me, as a German, it is interesting to read about so many German family names. The traces to the past generations...

Interesting photos and great info provided.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to check out Beulah Mae Brown as that one of my main family names. It really so great that your friends do this research. I am interested in the photos but I do keep watching for family names.
ReplyDeleteIn the third photo, there is a small cross in the left window visible. I wonder what that is- does anyone know? I suppose this is the schoolbuilding.
ReplyDeleteJust a guess but it could have been a First Aid training site. During the 1930s people were trained in emergency First Aid because of Car Accidents. :)
DeleteSuper find. Hope one of those kids is located.
ReplyDeleteMax Leon Hird's obituary -

I emailed Jeri (Max Hirds daughter) She does not want the photos.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie,
Yes, my dad is Max Hird who is in some of the photos. The cursive is my mom's handwriting. I don't think I have any further information than what you already have found.
As a photographer himself as well as a geneology buff, my dad was interested in identifying people in photos as you are. He would have loved your blog. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
My name is Erin (Hird) Taylor. I am Jeri's neice, my father Collin was Max's youngest son. If you are still looking to return these photos to family I would love to have them. I was just randomly googling my grandfather's name when I came upon your blog. Please email me at airyn1@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteI will send you and email Erin Thanks for leaving a comment:)
DeleteI mailed these photos to Erin on December 17, 2013
