Emelia Tin Ceiling Real Photo Postcard

Emelia Tin Ceiling Real Photo Postcard back

Dear Stella,Aren’t these some awful looking things thgought I would send you one just the same by by Emelia

It was addressed to Miss Stella Gaard Elmore Minn  RFD #1 ( very near the Iowa border)

This is an AZO postcard that was used between 1904 and 1918.

The postmark is hard to read, I suspect it was sent in 1908.  The town if that is a Gra it could be a number of Minnesota Towns like Granada, Grand Marais, Grand Meadow, Grant or Granite Falls.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)

  1. I thought this might be addressed Stella Mae Gaard (May 10, 1895 - September 3, 1908) (Find A Grave Memorial# 49596372) buried in Frost, MN which is about 12 miles from Elmore, MN but I am uncertain of that. There are a couple Stella Gaard's that lived in the area during the time in question. The thing that raises a flag in my mind is this: I assume Emelia was "family" so I looked for her and found an Amelia Gaard (Aug 1888 in Iowa, living in Elmore in 1900) - whose father, Severt S. Gaard is buried in Grand Rapids, Ithaca County, MN.

It this is the right "Emelia", the photo might contain her and/or brother and sisters - Emma Gaard 15, James Gaard 14, Silas Gaard 10, and Blanch Gaard 8 (ages as of 1900). Stella would likely have been a cousin.

  2. The other Stella, Stella E. (b. 1909 in Iowa) was the daughter of Fred and Amelia (what else) Gaard. They lived in Seely, Faribault, Minnesota 1900-1910-ish but moved to Steenerson, Beltrami, Minnesota and later to Chippewa Falls, Chippewa, Wisconsin. I am leaning toward the first set for "Emelia" and uncertain as to the link between her and either Stella.
