Photo Number 1187

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

Cabinet Card Montana Woman DL Antiques

F. M. Ingalls was the photographer in Missoula Mont.

Montana became a State in 1889 so this cabinet card can be dated after that date.  Gold beveled edges were popular trims for a cabinet cards from 1885 to 1892.

Her gown looks heavy.  It has a pleated skirt with a trimmed overskirt, the bodice is tight fitting with some kind of drape it also has tight sleeves and large cuffs.  Her wedding ring is prominently displayed.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)

  1. Looks like a warm, almost quilted, dress.

  3. Her dress is unusual, especially the bodice. The bit about Montana becoming a State in 1889 is interesting, I would never have thought to date a photo that way. I truly learn something new every day!

  4. This looks like a bustle dress that has been altered to remove the bustle. The lighter colored portion at her hip is probably mirrored on the other side for symmetry and may draw back over the back of the dress.
