This week lets look at some houses. This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Dorset Minnesota
This is an interesting photo. Five rifles are leaning up against the wall, long lodge poles are leaning up against a tree, a grinding wheel is attached to another tree and the person taking the photo is standing in a cabbage patch. There is a huge brush pile on the left. That grinding wheel probably sharpened an ax or two.
The building is what I would call a tar paper shack. Years ago really poor people in Minnesota would build a small house..and cover it with tar paper and boards..the boards kept the tar paper in place when the wind blew.

ReplyDeleteNow, there's a bit of history captured in that photo! Can you imagine living through a Minnesota winter in a place like that? I can't even handle the thought of living through a Minnesota winter in a well-insulated mansion...
