Charles Melrose living in Payne, Oklahoma in 1920 (according to US census) was born c. 1879 in Kansas. He was married to Emma Melrose born c. 1874 in Tennessee. They had a son, Clarence Melrose born c. 1898 in Kentucky, and a daughter Elsie E. born c. 1901 also in Kentucky.

Charles and family all moved to Ontario, San Bernardino, California by the 1940 US Census.

Charles, b. 23 Feb 1879 in Kansas, died 21 Feb 1949 in Riverside, California and is buried in Bellevue Cemetery, Ontario, California. He served in the Coastal Artillery as a Private in the 92nd Company from 1901 to 1904.
