Photo Number 981

This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

Group in Wildflowers DL Antiques

A family in the wildflowers.

Maybe from the 1940’s sometime.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)

  1. I love the wildflowers all around them. Is that what they call a Peter Pan collar on her dress?

    1. Hi Mildred, I think a Peter Pan Collar has rounded corners and the collar meets up in the front...I am not sure what to call the collar in the photo. Perhaps I will have to do some research:)

  2. The little one has something in their hands... I'm betting its not a frog.

  3. It is a wonderful photo. Its informal placement of kids makes it so homespun looking and spontaneous camera work.

  4. Interesting composition. Wish we knew who they were.

  5. The woman's high-waisted dress, its long length, its print, its sleeves and its general style indicate this snapshot was taken much earier -- probably about 1916 or 1917, give or take a couple of years.
