Photo Number 786

This is a photo from the Tin Ceiling in Park Rapids Minnesota.
Cloche Hat ForeignTin Ceiling
This gal is wearing a cloche hat popular in the 1920’s.  A cloche hat was a fitted bell shaped hat.  Her very twenties style includes a string of pearls wrapped around her neck twice with the longest part is in a knot.

I will guess that it says that the photograph was taken May 15, 1928.  The rest of it..perhaps some can translate for us.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

Translation from Crex:
My daughter Hildegard Leue is born April 25 1913, photographed May 15 1928.

  2. Thank you Crex!

Leue is a German sounding name. I assume the inscription was in German -

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't find this hat all that appealing. :)

  3. do you think she sewed that hat herself?

  4. Wow. I wouldn't have guessed her to be 15 when I first saw the photo, but the inscription clearly states it. :-) Without that info, I would have pegged her as early-mid twenties. ~Abra

  5. She is very pretty. These hats seem like they would be more comfortable than most.

  6. It's all coming back in style! That hat style is very popular in knitting now and the pompoms that were on that chair are in vogue along with tassels. Even the way she wore her necklace..."Y" necklaces are in fashion. I'm no clothes horse for sure but I watch QVC once in awhile and I knit and crochet! LOL!
