These are WW2 era photos. Now for a question? Could these possibly be photos taken at a facility where POW’s went before they came back to the States? Last night I was searching names and had a hit on this fellow. There was a Charles Eubanks that was a POW. His great granddaughter left a message on a POW site in 2002. I emailed her.. you never can tell.
This is Charles Eubanks from Little Rock Arkansas on the left and “Gene” on the right. I believe that Gene was from Minneapolis Minnesota. I also believe that he is a relative of Margaret Lundborg’s..that was the name on the outside of this package of photos.
Another photo of Charles Eubanks Little Rock Arkansas.
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
These photos went Full Circle 131 on November 12 2015
I've a lot of catching up to do.
ReplyDeleteCharles Eubanks was/is a pretty common name. If he served in the Philipines, perhaps he was involved with the Bataan "Death March". Those prisoners were brutally mistreated (as were many POW's of the Japanese) and the survivors needed extended hospitalization and care to recover after being liberated.
With regard to the Death March POWs, they were cared for in Manila I believe, and probably many other locations, prior to going state side. It is possible these photos are from one of those camps. The POWs required extensive rehab before going home. They frequently suffered from multiple problems from malnutrition to malaria to dysentery and more. Those poor boys suffered incredibly.
ReplyDeleteGene looks like Red on your Novemeber 2 post.
ReplyDeleteThis photo and others were mailed today, October 15 2015 to Allen in Minneapolis MN a relative of Eugene Lilienthal
