Harry Nordstrom Family Dassel MN
A Farm family or a family visiting relatives on a farm and stopping for a photo.  I am not sure what kind of building is behind them ..any reader input is welcome.  This looks like a 1950’s ( Corrected to 1942) photo to me.

Update: This is from Earl the little boy with the camera.

This is a photo of my dad and Earl 11 years, Jim 9 years Dean 7 years and Marlyn at 5 years. The picture was taken around 1942, about the time our mother passed away. It was taken in the barn door that my dad Harry and uncle Elmer farmed. the farm is south of Dassel Mn. on the east shore of Pigeon lake

  2. Wouldn't it be fun if you had the photo that the boy in the middle was taking of the photographer.

  4. I love the farm photos. We noticed in some of our family farm photos, people seemed to like to pose in front of the chicken coop. :-)

  5. I played in the chicken coop when we lived on the farm in Dyess Arkansas back in the late 1940's, best play house I every had until we moved to KY and my play house was the coal shed.

  7. Harry Nordstrom (b. 4 June 1893 d. November 1973 — Collinwood Township Meeker, Minnesota) had at least brothers Elmer T. (1891) and wife Selma, Vernon (1899), William H. (1882 - widowed).

Harry got a late start - getting married after he was 36 (The 1930 US census shows him single).

http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/o/r/Phyllis-J-Nordstrom/GENE35-0004.html has the complete details of this family and says this:

Harry was the next child of Ray and Albertina. He, like Elmer and Clara, spent his entire life at Dassel. He married Mabel Erickson and they had four children: Earl (at present the only descendant of Ray still living in Dassel with the Nordstrom name), Marlin James, Dean, and Marilyn.

So it looks like 1940-ish is pretty spot on!
