Photo Number 365

Four Boys one a Soldier Cyko Postcard

This is a Real Photo Postcard. Brothers? Possibly..or maybe friends. One of them is off to the war. I believe this is also a photo from 1917 to 1918..although this type of postcard a Cyko was only made during 1904 to 1908.  Which means that  either this gentleman was in the Military before WWI or the card was a left over and the photographer was using them up.  This postcard has no identifying marks of any kind.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

  1. Perhap this is a college roommates picture - the uniform jacket might be ROTC issue?

Sad that it is unmarked and untracable - someone's grandpop is in this picture.

  2. Perhaps, this is two sets of brothers: the men on the left share facial characteristics as do the men on the right.

  3. My grandmother always drug her family into a photo studio to get pictures of the family in case one of the soldier sons got killed in action. They did the same think when one of the sons lost a child. It was a strange tradition. It is interesting to see the first world war soldier.

  4. The most interesting thing about this for me is that each of the 4 men has a different fashion style going on. From collars to coats, each is just a little different.

  5. What a wonderful blog. I have read all the full circle posts, the history behind the forgotten photos is fascinating. Pan

  6. Pants rolled up. Extra thick socks. Untied shoe. Curious.

  7. There were military actions taking place during 1904-1908. The US left Cuba, moved on to Panama, was still involved in Indian actions (believe it or not!) and of course any territories annexed would probably have had military of some kind, locations such as Guam, Philippines or Puerto Rico. It is quite possible that the fellow in the uniform was part of that.

  8. This is an interesting photo. There is almost an intimacy or comfort level in the front two men. Note the legs crossed over each other and elbows and arms touching. I think the two on the right could easily be siblings, but the uniformed one in the back seems to be, by body language, distancing himself from the others. I love your blog! RB
