Photo Number 331

31 or 32 Pontiac

Well, lets try a pet week!  Photos of people and their pets are hard to come by..but I do have a few. This is a 1931 or 1932 Pontiac (according to my Dad).  I recognize a Border Collie and possible a Collie..both who seem to be much loved by their masters.  We will date this photo 1932 or 1933 because that car still looks pretty new! I would love to take it for a little ride in the country! I have a few more photos of this same Border Collie..he or she looks a little like our Border Collie Chance.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again.  I usually write this blog late at night and have it auto post in the early morning, hopefully that will continue this week..  Our oldest daughter Trica is in the hospital, I am not sure what each day will bring..if you are so inclined please say a little prayer for her..and Thanks in advance:)

  1. I wonder why they are so hard to find (and you are right, they are). Perhaps back in the days when a photograph was a major undertaking people thought them too important for mere pets!

  2. Hi Connie, I am praying for Tricia and for all of you.
This border collie does look a lot like Chance. The other dog is sweet too. Wonder what their names were?

  3. I bet they loved the car almost as much as the pooches! Neat shot! I'm partial to border collies... :)

    Thoughts and prayers for Tricia...

  5. Connie, I will definitely be praying for your daughter, and for you too. You need to be strong but don't let yourself get worn down.

In the early days of photography dogs were often left out because photography was expensive. Later, even though the costs came down, shutter speeds were still a bit slow and dogs could move, thereby spoiling the shot. In the 20th century shutter speeds were pretty good, so the dog wouldn't necessarily blur the photo, but maybe there was a hold-over from the early days that photos were special?
