This granny is really dressed up! Complete with gloves. I read where hats and gloves were all just part of good etiquette. Hats were often changed many times a day and only beggars went bareheaded. This granny is headed someplace important..to church..perhaps to a wedding..in the late 1940's. I love the way her clutch purse is secured under her arm.
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
Is it just me, or does it look like she is wearing some pretty heavy duty support hose?
ReplyDeleteShe is a snazzy granny alright. She really dressed up nicely.
ReplyDeleteEmma Rose/Duchess..Yes I thought they looked like support hose too:)
ReplyDeleteThose are not support hose. They are merely "flesh-colored" cloth stockings that went up above the knee and attached to a garter belt or girdle. My grandmother wore them all the time but she rolled the tops into sort of a knot. Mature women were more likely to wear them than "nylons."
