Photo Number Sixty-Two

I missed posting a photo yesterday..the day just slipped by..busy time of year!   This family however looks so relaxed!  I left this photo as is.. Merry Xmas 1943 was crossed out at the bottom of the photo .apparently this family was offended that Christmas was shortened..so they took a pencil or a pen and covered it up.. I would have done the same thing!  No one but the lady of the house is even looking at the camera...I did note a familiar framed print in the background.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again! :)

  1. Wow, this is very artistically posed.... Seems ahead of its time in that respect, but I don't know that for a fact. A prosperous family, and pillars of the community, it would appear.

  2. A classic shot for sure. I didn't know that they were putting out photo Christmas greetings back then. It is an interesting shot.

  3. Seems kind of odd not having a Christmas tree in the photo. It just doesn't look like a very homey or friendly atmosphere in that living room.

  4. I love this idea of posting old photos of yours. The man appears to be reading a Bible based on the "flexibility" of the book's cover. I agree with Rae that the room looks a little sterile with no Christmas tree. I also love the girl's curls! AND most of all, I love the barrel back chair the mom is sitting in. My brother has my grandma's chair from her 1940's living room and it is exactly like this.

  7. It could be that it is not Christmas at all and the title of the picture was erroneous and was scratched out because of it. Just an idea. Thank you so much for posting all of these pictures.
